Mr. Jurg Schopper's "Audiophile Sampler Vol2" vinyl record specially delivered for the Hong Kong Advanced Audiovisual Exhibition 2026 selection by Mr. Jurg Schopper has arrived freshly!
The first side has four pieces of classical music, the second side is a pop/jazz choice. The most sharp and awake classical part is Kogan's "The Place of Memories of Nostalgia". This short and concise piece is indeed unparalleled!
The pop section also has two extremely catchy lyrical songs, including “On My Own,” and “Lonesome Now,” which in my opinion suits most fevered tastes. Of course, if you like the blues, there’s a good chance that “Whiskey Head Woman” will be your cup of tea.

*Audiophile Sampler Vol. 1*, a limited-edition vinyl record produced by the Swiss audiophile label Triston Masters specifically for the 2025 Hong Kong High-End Audiovisual Exhibition, received unanimous praise from vinyl enthusiasts and music lovers. In August 2026, Shin Chang Records will again import *Audiophile Sampler Vol. 2*, a limited-edition vinyl record specially released by Triston for the 2026 Hong Kong High-End Audiovisual Exhibition, along with an open-reel cassette tape. This album can be said to be specially made for audiophiles with extremely high demands for sound quality. It includes classical and modern pop tracks, and in addition to being melodious, its high-quality sound makes it an ideal choice for testing high-end audio systems.
Triston Masters is a Swiss brand dedicated to the analog field with an ultimate and pure recording philosophy. They are renowned for their passion for producing high-quality vinyl records and open-reel tapes from original analog master tapes. The album was pressed onto high-quality 33⅓ RPM 180g vinyl records by the renowned Swiss pressing company MEK Vinyl GmbH, providing a quiet and stable physical medium for the dynamics and details of the music, resulting in top-tier sound quality. *Audiophile Sampler Vol. 2* contains nine carefully selected tracks, divided into two sections: Side A features five classical pieces, while Side B contains six popular tracks, encompassing romantic and neo-romantic classical styles as well as diverse pop elements. This album is a true analogous archaeological journey, with some tracks sourced from rare master tapes by Armenian and Swiss Radio, each piece telling a unique story.
Side A (Classical Music) The opening piece, "Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Mazurka On Polish Folk Themes," is performed by the legendary Georgian violinist Liana Isakadze, a direct disciple of David Oistrakh and one of the few Georgian violinists who can rival Oistrakh. This Mazurka, a folk dance from Rimsky-Korsakov's Lan, showcases her exquisite bowing technique and delicate tonal variations. Recorded from Armenian Radio archives, the violin's sound is remarkably authentic. <Rodion Shchedrin: Imitation of Albéniz Arrangement By Armen Gevorgyan> is a recording of performance by Russian cello virtuoso Daniil Shafran. Shafran, one of the three giants of Soviet cello music, is widely recognized as a cello master with the most beautiful tone and the most rounded lines, holding a status comparable to Mstislav Rostropovich. Composed by Hsiao Cho-lun and arranged by Armen Gevorgyan, this piece is centered on the Albéniz style, its melody combining the passion of Spanish dance with the profound restraint of Russian chamber music. This recording comes from a rare open-reel master tape in the collection of Armenian Radio, making it exceptionally valuable. Shafran's cello tone is rich, dense, and full of resonance; the bass strings are relaxed and full, while the treble strings are bright and warm. His bowing is stable and precise, perfectly capturing the lyrical tension and rhythmic nuances of the music. This album fully captures the original resonance of the cello's soundbox, with a three-dimensional and realistic texture. This recording of Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture, Final Rehearsal Kingsway Hall," performed by the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of legendary Swiss conductor Carlos Païta, is of immense historical value. It is a live recording of the final rehearsal at Kingsway Hall in London, captured on location by veteran recording engineer Philippe Zumbrunn using top-of-the-line NAGRA 4S equipment. It is an exclusive and previously unreleased source. The overture is fast-paced and majestic, with brilliant and bright brass, flowing strings, and clear percussion. The natural reverberation of the classic Kingsway Hall is fully preserved, and the analog master provides excellent soundstage depth and orchestral separation, with a wide dynamic range and natural sound. The climax is powerful and grand yet without any compression or strain, perfectly reproducing the top-quality sound of the classic hall recording. The final piece on Side A, "Pjotr Tchaikovsky: Memories of a Dear Place," features Leonid Kogan, a legend in himself. Kogan's rendition of Tchaikovsky's "Memories of a Dear Place" showcases unparalleled skill and exceptional sound quality. This is a precious recording from Armenian Radio. Kogan's tone here achieves an almost surreal purity; the overtones in the high register are crystal clear, while the vibrato in the low register carries a deep, Russian melancholy, and the sound is incredibly penetrating. For any listener seeking the perfect violin tone, these three minutes and fifteen seconds are almost an auditory religious experience, making it clear why Kogan's name stands alongside Oistrakh and Milstein in the pantheon of 20th-century violinists.
Side B (Popular Tracks) opens with "Champion Jack Dupree: Whiskey Head Woman," a dramatic stylistic leap. Recorded in 1964 by Swiss Radio and Television (SRF), this piano blues piece features the legendary New Orleans blues pianist, Champion Jack Dupree. Never released or radioed, it was simply recorded and then quietly archived for decades. The only mono recording on the album, it possesses an irreplaceable historical value. Dupree's piano playing is raw and soulful, his voice carrying the characteristic irony and melancholy of New Orleans blues, allowing listeners to experience the magical power of music transcending borders and generations. "Tommy Schneider & Friends: The Hidden Port" emerges from the blues' veil, ushering in the swinging world of the Hammond B3 electric organ. Tommy Schneider is an outstanding Hammond B3 player, and this title track from his self-titled album showcases his superb collaboration with top Swiss guitarist Adrian Stern. The Hammond B3's tone is recorded full and articulate, while Stern's guitar engages in a dialogue with precise syncopation and blues scales. This is a track that will have you nodding along, and excellent material to demonstrate the frequency response and rhythm of an audio system. The next track, "Tobias Degen: On My Own," is by Swiss singer-songwriter Tobias Degen. The recording story of this track is itself an audiophile's dream. Engineer Manuel Egger recorded it at Suburban Studio using a NEVE Melbourne mixer, a 3M professional 16-track open-reel tape recorder, an EMT analog reverb unit, and the legendary Telefunken V76 microphone preamplifier. Degen's voice, captured by this high-quality recording equipment, sounds both intimate and expansive. Listeners can hear the breath flowing in front of the microphone and the classic, unique spatial depth imparted by the EMT reverberation unit. This is a sonic specimen of the golden age of analog recording; a mere two minutes and twenty-five seconds, yet enough to leave a lasting impression. "Might Of Coincidence: Lonesome Now" is a work by the Swiss psychedelic folk band Might Of Coincidence, recorded by legendary recording engineer Steff Sulke, from the TMR-SE0006 album released by Triston Records. The psychedelic folk style here presents an atmosphere that is both ancient and dreamlike. The plucking of acoustic guitars, the ethereal vocal harmonies, and the percussion instruments that seem to come from afar, together weave a lonely landscape at dusk. Steff Sulke's recording style is known for its spatial composition, and this piece perfectly showcases his skill. The sense of distance between instruments, the lingering resonance of vocals, and the overall depth of the soundstage all create the feeling of being in an old tavern filled with the aroma of wood. The album concludes with "Djivan Gasparyan & Armen Hovhannisyan, Vache Hovsepyan: Night Time," a performance led by Armenian duduk master Djivan Gasparyan. Gasparyan is hailed as one of the greatest duduk players, and this recording, also from the archives of Armenian Radio, is truly invaluable. This piece indeed possesses a timeless perfection; Gasparyan's duduk tone is plaintive and poignant, the nasal and breathy quality characteristic of oboes seemingly penetrating the soul in the stillness of the night. The recording engineers at Armenian Radio clearly understood how to capture the essence of this instrument. There was no compression, no artificial reverberation, only the purest sound of the instrument itself and the warmth of the performer's breath. As the last note fades, you understand why this piece was chosen as the album's closing track; it allows the entire album to settle into an indescribable tranquility and emotion. Still moving after decades, it's a timeless and highly listenable healing classic.
