“TRISTON”—this label, founded by my Swiss uncle JURG SCHOPPER, I’m always happy to support as long as I like the tracks! The main reason is that I rarely get disappointed; I never pay attention to what high-tech methods were used in the production of the records— I go by what my ears tell me, so I rarely report on the production process!
This recording of Henryk Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto, performed in 1981 by the renowned American violinist Ruggiero Ricci, is relatively obscure, but that’s precisely why I’m eager to hear these refreshingly unique movements!
The sound quality of this vinyl is exceptional; the balance between the violin and the orchestra is perfectly accurate; every section of the orchestra is clearly layered and precisely positioned, and the width and depth of the soundstage make the entire pair of speakers completely disappear, as if I were sitting in the best seats in the center of the concert hall—the seventh or eighth row—enjoying the music!
What surprised me even more were the two SONATAS by BELA BAROK and EUGEN YSAYE—recorded in 1960. Although they are mono recordings, the texture of the violin is so rich that it feels as if the performance is right before your eyes—absolutely breathtaking! This is a relatively expensive vinyl record because only 250 copies were produced worldwide, but it is absolutely worth wholeheartedly recommending!
