True MONO Cartridge
With 0.7-mil stylus
For perfect playback of mono records from the 50s and 60s, a 1.0-mil stylus is also available.
Most mono cartridges currently available on the market have 0.6 to 0.7 mil stylus tips to accommodate modern record cutting.
The MP-MONO comes standard with a 0.7 mil stylus tip and was developed to play newly manufactured mono LPs.The sound is surprisingly fresh and doesn't sound "old-fashioned" at all. We tested it with our Triston Master Recordings mono LPs and were impressed!
The 1 mil replacement stylus is a stylus that reproduces powerful sound with rich mid- and low-frequency ranges. In the days when mono records were widespread (mid-1940s to mid-1950s), 1 mil styluses were the standard stylus for record playback. The stylus inserts of both options are very easy to change, allowing you to select the right stylus for each of your mono records.
The Nagaoka MP 100 to MP 200 cartridges have the same weight as the MP Mono and also the same recommended tracking weight. This also makes switching between mono and stereo easy, provided the Nagaoka headshell is used.
