The TD 124, in its original and Mark II iterations, was not the only Thorens turntable built around the company's unique drive system and engineering concept. The TD 224 record changer, produced in very limited quantities for only 6 years, employed a unique mechanism - evocative of a fine Swiss clock - to automatically place and remove disks of all speeds on a TD 124 without the piling up of records common to all other record changer designs.
Based on our access to the original Thorens manufacture and service techniques, we can now offer a complete restoration of the amazing TD 224. However, the changing mechanism must be complete - we can supply restored and newly manufactured parts for the table, which is a TD 124, but the changing mechanism was unique to the TD 224, and parts are simply not available.
But sorry - a restoration is only possible if you bring this item to our place and pick it up after restoration. Because it is not possible to pack it save for shipping. The delicate mechanism needs only a very little disalignement for not working again.
