In the late 1950s the iconic SPU cartridge range featured Ortofon's newly introduced low coil resistance and impedance concept. As a basis for reproducing superb high frequencies, this concept has been continually improved and refined in the decades since.
The latest version of the SPU Classic is the GM MK II. It exists in two version. With a nude elliptical stylus (GM E MK II) and with a nude spherical stylus (GM MK II).
The major improvement of the MK II versions is the grinded wood cartridge body. The result is a more stable sound. Also the connector has been improved.
